Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is among ABC's first Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 purchase to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved from one job to the next during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family frequently relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father, one who would drink excessively, and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite having failed several classes during her first year.
